About this Course
This course introduces the learner to advanced concepts in the debt market. The aim is to discuss strategies that impact bond valuation, and are based on duration or convexity, or bond valuation linked to shifts and movements in the yield curve.
The course also explains common debt market indicators. The main teaching elements are: (1) Explanatory text chunked into simple sentences or bullet points; (2) Images to support the text and show actual market trends; (3) Data sources and examples from the bond market that connect concepts with market realities. Each element plays an important role and reinforces the others, but since this is an advanced course the illustrations and data links should be the primary focus of the learner.
The learner will also gain knowledge about the market structure, types and features of various debt instruments. By understanding how to interpret debt market indicators, a learner will be better equipped to analyse the impact of economic conditions and macro policy on fixed income investments.
