Course Summary
Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) is a combination of computing, networking and physical processes, the behaviour of which is described by both cyber and physical system components. CPS is a transdisciplinary approach that can influence industries such as avionics, defence systems, smart manufacturing, automotive, utilities, healthcare and many more.
According to a report by Credence Research Analysis, the CPS global market size is predicted to grow at a 9.3 percent Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) between 2019 and 2027, and also accounted for about USD $60.5 billion market size in 2018. This indication is for consolidated growth of hardware, software and services in CPS that cuts across several industries. CPS is a promising area that combines systems, devices, and users over the internet with the need for automation and process improvement.
Cyber-Physical Systems is a course that introduces students to an industrial viewpoint of Cyber-Physical Systems which includes sensors and actuators, computing and communication systems. It will also include networking protocols, security and various CPS/IoT applications. This course helps to make students industry-ready and equip them with the domain knowledge needed to take up projects in CPS. Any of the hands-on use cases on smart agriculture, smart manufacturing and so on will potentially support this course.
Hands-On
