Course Summary

Basic Econometrics is a course that introduces students to the application of different statistical modelling to analyse economic variables and make predictions and forecasts, and to explain consistently occurring incidents. It is a fundamental course for aspiring economists, data scientists and financial analysts, and could also be useful for engineering sciences, biological sciences, medical sciences, geosciences, agricultural sciences, among others.

Academic Expert

Rajendra N. Paramanik is an Assistant Professor in Economics and Finance at IIT Patna. He has previously taught at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, and the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (SSSIHL). His domain of expertise include Macrodynamic Modelling and Financial Econometrics. He has published a number of research articles in reputed journals of Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, Asian Development Bank Institute, and like. He is also the editor of forthcoming Festschrift Springer volume on International Economics and Finance. He is passionate about teaching Econometrics and Time Series Analysis and has received invitation as resource person for workshops from IIT Kanpur, Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pondicherry University, The Indian Econometric Society (TIES), to name a few.

Shyam Sundar Das is currently working as a Scientist with Drug Development Group of Life Science Research Area in Tata Consultancy Services Limited. He has more than 10 years of experience in Model-based Drug Development. His research interests include machine learning based QSAR modelling for prediction of ADMET properties and computational drug repurposing. He previously worked in Pharmacokinetic-Pharmacodynamic model fitting using nature-inspired optimization techniques. He has experience in programming languages like Python, R and Java. He has published two patents in the field of PK-PD modelling.
