Course Summary

Applied Energy Conservation and Management is a course designed to impart knowledge on energy audit and management. It is estimated that around 11.6 million direct or indirect new jobs would be created in the energy sector in future. The demand for energy in India and across the globe is increasing at a rapid rate. This calls for energy efficient systems and conservation of energy. The first step towards this goal would be energy conservation and management along with the use of renewable energy sources.

This course offers a basic understanding of different systems of energy utilisation and generation with an overview of non-conventional technologies. The students will also be introduced to different policies, and elementary energy economics. The programme also addresses various energy management initiatives covering energy economics, calculation and selection of appropriate technologies, and equipment for improving operational efficiencies.

Hands-On

Hands-on will be conducted using any spreadsheet application as a tool to record the findings of the energy audit/survey.

The above mentioned hands-on configuration will be leveraged by the students to complete the industry assignment as well as to complete Part B of the summative assessment.
