Course Summary

Solar power technologies involve the processes of harnessing radiant light and heat from the sun using a range of technologies, such as C10 solar heating, photovoltaics, solar thermal energy, solar architecture, molten salt power plants and artificial photosynthesis. An analysis by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) shows that as many as 1 million jobs could be created if India achieves its target of 100 GW of installed solar energy by 2022.

Solar Power Technologies is a course that provides an overview of the solar photovoltaic (PV) technology and the solar energy system. This course aims to equip the youth of India with skills in this domain, considering the opportunities for employment in the growing fields of installation, operations and maintenance of solar energy power projects.

Hands-On

1. Students/Institutions need to procure the below physical kit(s) required for industry assignment as well as for Part B of the summative assessment:

  1. a. Solar Panel
  2. b. Electrical Parameters Measuring Instruments

2. The above mentioned hands-on configuration will be leveraged by the students to complete the industry assignment as well as to complete Part B of the summative assessment.
