About the Course

The Carnatic Violin self-paced course is designed for beginners. This course is open to all students, even to those with no prior musical experience. It is taught by violin maestro Dr. L. Subramaniam and his son, Dr. Ambi Subramaniam, an expert violinist, who is also a performer, and educator.

This course allows students to learn the Violin at their own pace through recorded videos, interactive games, and learning and activity sheets. The learning material will help students get a thorough understanding of the basics of Carnatic music and the Carnatic Violin. There will be intervals for regular checks on the students' progress and understanding through quizzes. In addition to the above, learners will have access to a moderated digital discussion room that will allow them to post queries and share their suggestions. The moderator will respond to the questions posted within a short time. Moreover, the course can be accessed anytime, anywhere, and on any device enabling Learning on the Go!

On completion of this course, students will be aware of the fundamental techniques on how to hold and tune the violin, how to hold the bow, how to play the basic notes and practice exercises, how to play a pitch and create a beautiful tone. Some unique aspects of this course include the in-house compositions and exclusive teaching methodologies, which have come from intensive research and decades of experience of the international artists involved.
