Criminal Records Specialist Full-Time

Criminal Records Specialist is responsible for working the various components regarding an applicant’s address history, criminal records, history, and researching the various counties that we can complete electronically. In addition they are responsible for viewing the information returned from vendors to ensure reporting compliance with our policies.



  • Conduct research and verify factual background information on applicants for:
    • Education, employment, and professional references screening purposes.
    • Criminal Records Check
    • Other Components Pertaining ESS
    • Expected to respond to email within 2 business hours consistently
    • Ensure information verified matches the info provided by applicant/customer
    • Research is completed via email, fax, and/or web/internet searches
    • Make daily attempts to contact appropriate sources to verify information or have background documented with the expected turnaround time (verifier provided)
    • Immediately document thorough and accurate notes on the status of each search as verifications are attempted, received, and documents attached.
    • Note any discrepancies (in a full sentence, grammatical format) or adverse information uncovered during the verification
    • If the search is clear, the Researcher to make a note and close the file
    • Do not close searches without exhausting all available resources and noting each attempt
    • Always attach supporting documentation received from sources and applicants

  • Preferred: Prior experience in the background screening business
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as W2s, Tax documents, Diplomas, and or Transcripts. 
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to speak and write effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Reasoning Ability                                            

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills                                               

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Outlook software.
